PILOT PROJECT

Reassessing for optimisation

We've taken a brief pause, but only to step back and re-evaluate how we can better optimise our land use, especially with the complex groundwork involved. Stay tuned for more details on why things have been quiet and what’s coming next.

1 October 2024

Expanding perspectives

We recently took our drone out to gain a broader view of the landscape, allowing us to assess how best to integrate a second unit into our expanded plan. The goal is to ensure this addition complements the existing arrangement without disrupting the natural environment.

15 September 2024

Nurturing new beginnings

The plumeria trees we transplanted from a saline environment have adapted beautifully to their new home, flourishing with vibrant growth. We also marked a special moment by celebrating the first harvest of coconuts from our 'Nam Hong' palms. These are small wins that highlight the rewards of patience and nurturing.

27 April 2024

Selecting sustainable materials

We selected local hardwood from Phrae to serve as the front door for our prototype, aptly named 'Phrae' after the bordering Lan Na province. This choice underscores our commitment to using regional resources and enhancing the project's local integration.

24 April 2024

Innovative cooling strategies to reduce energy needs

We prioritize clean energy sources and design optimization to reduce our energy needs. By eliminating traditional A/C systems, we cut energy requirements by 50%. Our innovative cooling strategies include passive cooling, active circulation, and geothermal heat transfer. The system uses underground water circulation for cooling, similar to a heat pump but more cost-effective, enhancing airflow and cooling through strategic vent placement and air recirculation. This approach not only saves energy but also supports our commitment to sustainable living environments.

15 April 2024

Pearlescent tiles that link past experiences to our future

13 April 2024

Early sneak preview of the look and feel for our pilot project

This initial 3D rendering, still a work in progress, provides a glimpse into what we're crafting. Over the coming weeks, we plan to refine and enhance these visuals, ensuring every detail aligns with our vision for the final design.

8 April 2024

Aligning values and building relationships in business ventures

Invited to attend a blessing ceremony at Jae Jong Old Wooden House while inspecting a hardwood panel mockup for a boundary fence. This serendipitous visit reinforced professional alignment and deepened relationships, underscoring the importance of selecting partners who share values over focusing solely on commercial gain.

4 April 2024

Efficient utilization of resources in project mockups by embracing practical imperfections

We received the mockup for the external boundary fencing, which mirrors the unconventional roof geometry of our concept. To minimize material waste, we accepted the mockup as it was, adhering to the philosophy that perfection is subjective and seldom achieved. As long as something falls within acceptable limits and fits the broader vision, it's considered satisfactory. We also advocate for not wasting time on unnecessary procedures. Being clear about what we want and accepting the outcome allows us to move forward and conserve energy for more critical tasks.

4 April 2024

Celebrating the women of our world

Inspired by the legendary Phuket Heroines, Thao Thep Krasattri and Thao Si Sunthon, Lan Na Biophilia champions the everyday celebration of women's resilience and leadership. Their valiant 1785 defense against Burmese forces exemplifies the enduring spirit and ingenuity of women, a legacy that guides our ethos.
